When we shipped Clinic & Medication Log, the medication administration record could show a nurse what was due and let them confirm a dose. It couldn’t help create the order in the first place, flag who was out of compliance on immunizations, or actually stop an unwitnessed dose when policy required one. This round closes those three gaps, and adds a fourth thing entirely: a staff-facing roster for the Health Profiles module, which until now had no screen of its own.
Medication orders, created where the record already lives
Nurses can now create, edit, and discontinue medication orders directly in the app — name, dosage, route, frequency, scheduled times, start and end dates, prescribing doctor, quantity on hand. Every order links to the student’s health profile, and typing a medication name surfaces suggestions from that student’s own health profile medication list — a prefill from the record already on file, not a lookup against a drug database or formulary. Nothing here checks interactions or dosing ranges; that judgment stays with the nurse and the prescriber.
Discontinuing an order doesn’t delete it; it marks it inactive, so the history stays intact for anyone who looks back at it later.
A list for who’s not caught up
The immunization due report already existed as an export. It’s now a working list: filter by status (due, overdue, upcoming), by vaccine, or search by name, and the same filters apply on screen or in a CSV pull. Select one student or several and send Notify — it reaches every guardian on file for each selected student, through the same in-app notification pipeline Bloomz already uses, in the family’s language.
Notify tells a family their child has an immunization gap to close. It does not talk to your state’s immunization registry — there’s no HL7 feed in or out. That sync was scoped for a future release and isn’t part of what shipped here. If your compliance workflow depends on registry reconciliation, this list won’t replace it; it’s a faster way to find who needs a nudge and send it.
A witness, actually enforced
This is the one worth reading carefully if you administer controlled substances or anything else your policy flags. Previously, a witness requirement only applied when a visit started — administering a dose had no witness check at all. Now, whenever your school’s clinic policy requires a witness, or the individual medication order is flagged as requiring one, administering that dose requires a second staff member’s ID before the record will save.
That check happens on the server, not just in the app UI. The witness has to resolve to an actual staff member at the school — not a parent, not a guest login, never the person administering the dose. Try to witness your own administration and the request is rejected.
Every administration is now charted — given, refused, held, or missed, witnessed or not — as a permanent record. That’s new: previously, only a completed clinic visit left a trace. Now the dose-by-dose record exists whether or not a witness was required, the artifact a licensing inspection actually asks for.
Health Profiles gets its own front door
Health Profiles — allergies, conditions, medications, health documents — has been fully built on the server since Clinic & Medication Log shipped, but it only ever showed up embedded inside an individual student’s profile page. There was no way to see the roster.
Now there is: a searchable staff list with chips for has-allergies, has-medications, and incomplete-profile, so a nurse can find who needs attention without opening every student one at a time. Each row links into that student’s existing health profile page — a faster way in, not a replacement.
It’s visible only to health-privileged staff roles, and every privileged read is logged, same as before this list existed. Guardians still see only their own child’s health information, never a staff member’s private clinic notes.
Worth saying plainly, since it’s the part a caveat-shy vendor would bury: medication-name suggestions come from the student’s own health profile, not a formulary — they don’t check interactions, allergies, or dosing. The witness check confirms identity and staff status; it isn’t a second clinical review. The immunization list helps you find and notify families about gaps — it does not sync with any state or federal immunization registry, and nothing here substitutes for your compliance officer’s own recordkeeping. None of this is medical advice, and none of it makes Bloomz an electronic health record system.
Where it is
Clinic & Medication Log remains a module a school adds — off by default, available to add through your Bloomz administrator, same as before. These four additions ship as part of that module, no separate toggle.
