Turn a Printed Newsletter Into a Bloomz Newsletter

The Bloomz Newsletter Builder can now start from the newsletter you already have. Upload a PDF, a Word document or a photo of the printed copy, and you get an editable Bloomz newsletter draft. Nothing is sent until you send it.

Most schools have a newsletter that lives outside their communication tools. The front office keeps it in Word. The PTA designs it somewhere else and exports a PDF. A teacher prints one page and sends it home in backpacks. Moving to a new newsletter tool usually means retyping all of it, so the old way survives for another year.

What the import does

From the newsletters list, choose Import from a document. You will also find it in the editor’s More actions menu and in the “New from template” dialog, and in the app as a card beside Blank in the template gallery.

Pick one file:

Bloomz reads the headings, paragraphs, lists, links and tables, and rebuilds them as Newsletter Builder blocks. Pictures in a PDF or Word file are carried into the draft where they can be. A photo of a printed page brings the text across, not the pictures in it. Anything it could not map comes back as a short list of warnings at the top of the editor, so you know what to check.

You can also save the result as a template instead of a draft, so next month’s issue starts from the same layout.

You stay in charge of what goes out

The import makes a draft. It does not send, publish or schedule anything. You read it, fix what needs fixing, and send it when it is right, the same as a newsletter you built from scratch.

That matters for a newsletter more than most documents. A date copied wrong, a stale phone number or a photo of a child whose family opted out should be caught by a person, not by software. The import saves the retyping. The review stays yours.

Who can use it

Anyone who can edit newsletters for the site can import one.

Import from a document uses Bloomz AI to read the file, so it appears where Bloomz AI is available. If the option is not showing, ask your Bloomz team.

A few practical limits

Where this fits

Once the newsletter is in Bloomz, next month’s issue starts from it instead of from a blank page. If your newsletter is read mostly by the families who were already engaged, The School Newsletter Nobody Reads looks at why, and Newsletters That Start From Your Own Templates covers templates.

To see the import with your own newsletter, book a demo and bring a recent issue.
