TalkingPoints leads with text-first messaging, and it is a good idea. Bloomz has it too: a teacher writes in English, the family gets a plain text message in their language on any phone, replies in that language, and the teacher reads the reply in English. No app to install, no login, no personal numbers shared.
A text starts the conversation. When a family is ready for more, Bloomz gives them an app where every menu, button, form and notice is in their language, across 250+ languages with right-to-left layouts. Families who never install it still get every text.
TalkingPoints has grown from texting into alerts, attendance outreach and forms. Bloomz covers that ground and the rest of what a district usually buys separately: PBIS and House Points, Thrive early warning, Bloomz Pay, district websites, a branded app, and the operational school day.
Texting works because it asks nothing of the family: no download, no account, no password. Bloomz reaches a family by text on whatever phone they have, translated into the language on file, and their reply comes back to staff translated. Staff send from Bloomz, so no personal number changes hands, quiet hours apply, and every text is logged with per-channel delivery reports.
Both platforms translate messages in both directions. TalkingPoints publishes 150+ languages; Bloomz covers 250+ on app, email and text, and speaks automated voice calls in about 49. The larger difference is what happens after the text. In Bloomz a family can open the calendar, sign the form, book the conference and read the notice in the same language, because every screen is translated along with the message.
Family engagement is one input. Bloomz puts it on the same student record as everything else a school runs: Thrive early warning across attendance, behavior and SEL, PBIS and House Points, BeHeard anonymous reporting, conferences and volunteer sign-ups, Bloomz Pay, enrollment, and school-day operations such as dismissal, hall passes, visitors and the clinic. The text home about an absence and the attendance record it refers to live in one place.
A texting platform usually sits beside a mass-notification system, a forms tool, a PBIS app, a payments vendor and a website host. Bloomz publishes per-student pricing in four tiers, from $3 to $11 per student per year. Texting, alerts and full translation are in every tier; the wellbeing and school-day modules are in the higher tiers, and the table below says which. Bloomz is always free for families, your price is locked for the contract term, and we'll beat any competitor's written quote by 10%.

TalkingPoints is a nonprofit with a single focus, and it shows. Its translation pairs machine translation with its own human translators, it has published research on attendance and achievement, including a listing on Evidence for ESSA, and individual teachers can start for free. If what you need is a dedicated multilingual texting tool, or you want the vendor's translators to review messages for you, TalkingPoints is a credible choice. Bloomz routes human review to your district's own certified reviewers and does not supply translators. Bloomz is the stronger fit when texting is one part of a larger job: you also want the app itself in every family's language, and you would rather not run separate vendors for alerts, forms, PBIS, payments, websites and the school day.
Texting needs two things your SIS already has: a phone number and a home language for each family. Our team syncs rosters, contacts and language preferences, families keep getting texts on the same phones with nothing to install, and teachers get quick-start training built around the texting workflow they already know. Dedicated CSM, live in under 30 days.
